Description

This large charcoal drawing Silvermine was completed after a series of wildfires ravaged the area and the vegetation was left in charcoal and ash. Rocky, sandstone terrain leads up to Elephant’s Eye Cave, appearing like an open door to a mountainous fortress. The dark entrance is intricately framed with the detailed texture of the pale surrounding rock.

Depicted in the monochrome shades of charcoal, the artwork provides a unique and alternative rendition of the famous scene. As with the other artworks in the collection, Silvermine brings the earthly elements indoors and creates a view for contemplation and reflection.

This is a Limited Edition Fine Art Print of the original charcoal drawing and part of the Mountains of the Cape Collection.
